Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of AMTA VA is elected by the members of the Chapter to lead, formulate policy and provide oversight to the operations of the Chapter. Beginning in 2017, the Board will be comprised of 5 members: President, (2) Board Members, a Secretary, and a Financial Administrator. There will also be several Committees, including Government Relations and Education. All of your Board Members are here to serve you, the member. An AMTA member since 2007, Jana began volunteering with the chapter in 2011 by serving on a legislative committee convened to formulate a licensure bill. Other service positions she has performed include being a Delegate to the national House of Delegates and serving as 2nd and 1st Vice President. This past July, Jana accepted the position of Chapter President.
Jana graduated from the Utah College of Massage Therapy in 2007 and runs a private practice focused on Therapeutic Massage and Structural Integration in Williamsburg, VA. She also teaches continuing education classes.
In her free time, Jana enjoys traveling, hiking, spending time with her boyfriend, and going to festivals.
Jodi Scholes is the CEO of the company Business of Bodywork, a consulting firm specializing in working with enthusiastic, positive massage based businesses committed to best practices in the massage industry. She consults with spiritually-open, motivated owners and managers of massage clinics to increase net profit by creating a framework that attracts the best talent, retains and trains high quality employees and allows the weakest links self-select off the team.
Ms Scholes has written, recorded online courses for self-motivated entrepreneurs. She authored “Foundations” a 6 module course to teach massage therapists how to own & operate a successful practice. Her works also includes a comprehensive MBLEx Review Course online. Ms Scholes is an approved provider of Continuing Education thru National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) She is also a certified massage therapist in practice since 1994. Before becoming the CEO of the Business of Bodywork, she spent over 15,000 hours running her own multi-therapist massage clinic in Northern Virginia, USA.
Jennifer volunteers as a member of the Board as 2ndVP and represents the Virginia Chapter as a Delegate. She began practicing massage in 2014 after a long career in customer service. She has been an AMTA member since 2014 and began volunteering in 2015 at the State Legislative Day. Jennifer has a private practice in Waynesboro, VA where she specializes in prenatal massage and infant massage instruction.
In her free time Jennifer, enjoys reading, crochet, baking and watching Doctor Who. She lives in Waynesboro with her husband.
Kristina enjoys writing, spending time with her family, and pursuing her wellness goals. She also has a fondness for ice cream and good craft beer.
In her day-to-day life she works at her private therapeutic massage practice, Nimbus Massage, in Richmond, VA. She enjoys the business side of things just as much as the massage side.
Kristina began volunteering with the AMTA VA Chapter in 2010 by helping organize local fusion coffee meetings; she has also served as a Delegate, Alternate Delegate, and 2nd Vice President.
Beth earned a Bachlor of Arts from Virginia Tech. A few years later, after experiencing the benefits of massage she enrolled in massage school. Beth opened her private practice in 2005. She expanded her practice to become an NCBTMB Approved Provider of Continuing Education, teaching Promoting Health thru the Seasons: How to Use Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). She lives with her husband and dogs in Blacksburg VA.
